There were a lot of ups and downs on my exchange to New York City. I met a lot of amazing people, learnt new skills and visited exciting places. Being an 7 hour plane ride away from home was strange at first because I hadn’t lived by myself before let alone in another country. The … Continue reading
Painting on fabric final
Painting on fabric My final piece was definitely spontaneous. I knew from my sketches what I wanted the main focus to be but I didn’t know how I would achieve the best result. I wanted the background to have a watercolour effect so I spread dilutant across the whole fabric and mixed up some bright … Continue reading
Stuck in the 60’s- Photography final
Photography Final My photography was based on the show Mad Men set in 1960’s NYC. I became addicted to this show when I first got to New York; my flatmate granted me unlimited access to the episodes on her Netflix account and the rest is history. I played the role of a mistress and shot … Continue reading

Kaledo final
Digital Textiles (Kaledo) The most challenging of all my classes. The Kaledo software enables textile designers to create a print/weave/knit digitally and apply to a garment in seconds. Swatch it, swatch it, swatch it- Bookbinding final
Bookbinding Final For my final book I decided to create a fabric swatch book. I used a japanese binding and a canvas cloth as the cover, which I had handprinted myself in my screen printing class. It was a challenge to sew because the fabric is quite thick plus the paper inside. I mounted each … Continue reading
The Hardback
Penultimate book of the semester; the hardback. It was quite a long process to make this book. Each cover is made using hard board that is wrapped in decorative paper and then attached to a cloth covered piece of hardboard which makes up the spine. The only sewing involved is in putting the signatures together, … Continue reading
Yin and Yang
Three Colour print for this weeks screen print class, using the ‘registration’ technique again. When hand drawing onto vellum make sure to use dark permanent ink such as indian ink or an oil paint sharpie. This way you can avoid having to reshoot your screen because the image wasn’t dark enough which is really frustrating! Continue reading
Why buy when you can make?
Most Favourite = Most Frustrating This is my favourite book so far. I hand painted some scrap paper and used them to create the covers. This book has an inside and an outside cover which adds more decorative interest to the design. The hardest part of making this book was matching up the inside and … Continue reading
